At the moment in Macau we can provide the following two kinds of innovative products and services:

(A) Single Cell Bioanalyzer (SCB)

The single cell chip is a biomicrofluidic device comprising fluid channels, fluid ports, and a particle retention structure. Reagents can be delivered to the microfluidic device through the fluid channels or the fluid ports. The device can be used to monitor, observe, measure, or record a biological parameter of a cell, to separate a single cell from a group of cells and to culture a cell.

Single Cell Bioanalyzer (SCB) separates, captures and measures particles such as single live cancer cells. This instrument allows real-time in-vitro monitoring of chemotherapy drug accumulation in a single cancer cell. The implementation of this single-cell analysis technique on a lab-on-a-chip could enable a doctor to assess the characteristics of the patient’s cancer cells and determine a customized course of treatment. The Bioanalyzer offers the potential to perform this assessment at the patient’s bedside prior to treatment. Single-cell analysis is now recognized as a promising technique to improve chemotherapy treatment. The Bioanalyzer can also be applied to cellomics, genomics and proteomics and all these can be applied to the study of Chinese medicine.

(B) Microfluidics Microarray Assembly (MMA) 

The MMA includes a microfluidic test chip pre-printed with probes. After this chip is assembled with and sealed against the channel plate, samples are flowed inside microchannels. This allows binding reactions to occur between the samples and the probes. Centrifugal liquid flow is achieved by spinning the disk. Applications have been demonstrated in detecting fungal pathogenic DNAs and mutated cancer genes. MMA can be used in the verification of DNA in Chinese medicine and agricultural plants and the detection of pathogenic fungi. Advantages over existing methods are: no robotic spotting needed, can be used with multiple samples, fast sample reaction rates, all microfluidic operations with probes and samples savings. MMA can improve the testing routines in Chinese medicine.
